Gender dysphoria

What is gender dysphoria?

Gender dysphoria is a condition in which a person experiences discomfort or distress because there’s a mismatch between the emotional gender they identify with and their biological gender. This can lead to depression, anxiety, self-harm, and even suicide.

The good news is that there are gentle ways to explore gender identity! Psychotherapy and process coaching can help people who are struggling with gender dysphoria learn to accept themselves as they are and to find ways to be happy with their bodies despite their biological gender identity.

What is your gender?

You may be uncomfortable with answering this question in front of yourself. Indeed, confusion about your sexual identity may be the reason for your anxiety or suffering. There are two concepts of gender. The first is biological and is linked to traditional ways of binary division based on religion, culture, and social concepts of gender. The second is emotional gender, which is a representation of various parts of yourself. Those parts are amazing, interesting, and create a vibrant life inside of you.

Gender dysphoria is about exploring the conflict between biological perceptions of gender in religion, culture, and society, and emotional experiences of being connected to different parts of your personal experiences of gender.

You don’t have to struggle with these and go through it without support. You deserve to be heard and seen as you are.
